We were delighted to be awarded the prestigious Green Flag for our work with children on sustainable development and living in July 2019.
One of our aims is for children to grow up understanding their responsibility towards each other and our environment. Children are the future generation; they are the future leaders and citizens of our planet. It is therefore vital that they develop an appreciation for the earth and a desire to protect it. In order to achieve this, the school incorporates ‘green’ teaching and learning activities into its everyday practice.
We are proud to be the very first Fairtrade school in Haringey and were re-awarded our Fair achiever school status in Summer 2019. We celebrate Fairtrade week each year and our Fairtrade team ensures that we promote Fairtrade issues in our teaching.
Our award winning school garden is treasured by everyone at St. Aidan’s. We have a lovely organic garden, which is supported by a great team of parents. They provide opportunities for children across the school to plant and grow fruit and vegetables, which are then given to the school kitchen. We were delighted to have received a gold award from the London Flower Society in the summer.
The school garden also provides a space for our outdoor classroom, where our Forest School sessions take place throughout the year.
